Meet Oscar

|
The Warner Theatre is proud to support our local pet shelters and adoption services. In celebration of our upcoming production of ANNIE, the ultimate story of adoption, family and happy endings, come to the Warner’s Nancy Marine Studio Theatre lobby for a very special pet adoption event featuring LITTLE GUILD OF ST. FRANCIS, OUR COMPANIONS and SARAH RESCUE! You can meet some of Connecticut’s most eligible adoptees and maybe create your own happy ending! Plus, meet our Little Orphan Annie and her real life rescue dog, Oscar (aka “Sandy”), who was a special needs adoptee from Sarah Rescue.
Oscar The Dog (Sandy) - Oscar is howlingly happy to be making his debut on the Warner stage. Like Sandy, he too is a rescue who just wants to be loved and taken care of, but unlike Sandy, Oscar was in fact caught by the dreaded "Dog Catcher". Due to his homeless condition and a fractured leg, Oscar was placed at the local dog pound in Brooke County, West Virginia. He was later rescued and transported to Connecticut by SARAH Rescue, a rescue organization which specializes in dogs with handicaps. Thanks to SARAH Rescue, Oscar was able to have the surgery he needed, was fostered by a lovely lady with a heart of gold, and went on to find his forever home with this production's Annie and her family in 2005. Oscar is one of millions of stray or abandoned shelter dogs who would reward a family with never-ending love and loyalty, if only given the chance.
Nancy Cummings Gazaille wrote “Oscar was sent to me when his future was grim at his shelter in WV where they wanted to amputate his leg that was broken in 3 places. We knew otherwise and when we got him here to SARAH RESCUE we had him see our specialist and he assured us his leg would heal if we crated him after his surgery. And he did, and he thrived and now he is part of a wonderful family and has a magical life. SARAH RESCUE, a Stratford, CT based handicapped animal rescue sees the "diamond in the rough" and gives their special kids that extra bit that they need to thrive. sarahandicaps.org can connect you with more inspiring stories of our kids and how coming to us gave them that chance at happily ever after.” |
